Romeo and Juliet
By William Shakespeare

I chose the book “Romeo and Juliet” because of its dramatic plot about love. And as far as I can judge almost all girls like love stories. This book impressed me very much. The charming plot and exciting narration invite you to the fascinating and magic world of reading.
Romeo and Juliet is a very famous story about two young people who fall in love with each other. They both come from very important families. However, their families, the Montagues and the Capulets, had an argument many years before. The story takes place in the north of Italy. The play is about how Romeo and Juliet continue to love each other although their families are enemies.
I dislike the enmity betweens the Capulets and the Montagues, and the parent’s point of view at the terms of young people. But I really liked faithful relations of Romeo and Juliet, who can die for each other. It’s so touching. The most I like the first part of the narration because there is a lot of romantic. Just in this part Romeo confesses to Juliet under her balcony about his love. To my mind the main characters are very believable and their story is so touching. Shakespeare used many different styles of writing in his plays. I really liked this book but to my mind the ending of the book is too tragic and I’d like to change it for happier.
The book impressed me very much. After reading it I felt compassion and pity about them. It’s an evident fact the story has a breathtaking plot.
No doubt this book is certainly worth reading. You won’t loose your time after reading “Romeo and Juliet”. This book will be really exciting for those who like tragedies and historical novels.

“Robin Hood”

I chose the book “Robin Hood” because I wanted to know who is Robin Hood. Besides my best friend had recommended me to read it so when I saw it I decided to buy.
The main character of the story is Robin Hood. It goes without saying Robin Hood isn’t a real character. Robin Hood is a young man who fights for a justice. He helps poor people. Do you want to know how? He robs rich people. His friends help him in such a noble action. Robin loves one woman. Her name is Maid Marian. In the end of the story they marry.
No doubt the book has a lot of strengths and a really strong moral message, but if you want to enjoy them you have to read a book. It is an adventure novel and it helps me to enjoy breathtaking actions of Robin Hood. It’s unexpected turns and exciting situations carried me away from the real world. The main characters aren’t very believable because I think that it isn’t a real story.
All in all I strongly recommend you to read this book. It’s a great story which will impress you very much. If you enjoy fantastic actions and lambent humor this book is just for you.

Book review.
Ian Fleming ‘Casino Royale’.
Macmillan readers. Pre- Intermediate.

Within the genre of adventure and detective stories, the storyline often features a strong man, fighting with evil and bad people. One of the best examples of this is novel Casino Royale by Ian Fleming.
In this book James Bond, the commander of the British Secret Service has a new task to destroy Le Chiffe, the Russian agent. He goes to Casino Royale and then…Do you want to know more? Read the book. It’s easy to read and it grabs my imagination and broadens the horizons of my outlook. The author tries to convey to us the ideas of good and evil, of greediness and envy, of the crime and the punishment. The action develops in several places. It starts in England and develops in Russia.
The books greatest strength is characterization: heroes and heroines seem larger then life but they are also deeply human. And although Bond rebels against the killers, smugglers, murders and burglars, the reason of his rebellion is the win of the truth, fair and peace in the world. This story has a strong moral message: truth always wins and all murders will be punished. There is only one disadvantage: it is a little bit short. I don’t want to advice anything to Ian Fleming, because, as for me, it’s wonderful.
The book helps me to understand that bad people always take punishments and that killing and stealing are not the way out of difficult situations. Personally, I realized that spy’s work is rather dangerous, because someone always tries to kill you.
The book is great. While reading I didn’t have any desire to sleep. On the contrary to read up to the end.
All in all, I’d like to recommend you to read it and you’ll have a great pleasure, cause adventure and detective stories are still reading. I believe Bond gains today’s readers’ sympathy are understanding.

Book review.
Ian Fleming ‘Goldfinger’.
Macmillan readers. Pre- Intermediate.

Within the genre of adventure and detective stories, the storyline often features a young person, strong and honest, brave and clever, fighting against bad people. One of the best examples of this is novel Goldfinger by Ian Fleming.
Although, the book is rather long, the reader finds it gripping from the first page to the last.
When James Bond 007 is introduced to the rich and mysterious Auric Goldfinger, he quickly learns that Goldfinger is a clever cheat at card games. But card games are not the only way that Goldfinger makes money. Soon, Bond finds himself part of an evil plan which could lead to the deaths of many people…
The books greatest strength is characterization: heroes and heroines seem larger then life but they are also deeply human. It is written in a traditional style. The books weakness is its length. The author tries to convey to us the ideas of good and evil, of greediness and envy, of the crime and the punishment. The climax comes when Goldfinger knew that Bond was a secret agent. To my mind, the book is fantastic , amazing and truly gripping.
All in all, James Bond is certainly still worth reading. I believe, James Bond gains today’s readers` sympathy are understanding, and the book’s plot makes it one of my favourite books.
I recommend it to people who want good fun.

Book review.
Ruth Rendel ‘The Beatles’
Macmillan readers. Pre- Intermediate.

Within the genre of biographic stories the storyline often features some persons, who are well-known all around the world. One of the best examples of this is a story “The Beatles” by Paul Shipton.
The year is 1963 and Beatlemania is only just begin. Soon the Beatles has fans all around the world. For the rest of the 1960s their music changed modern music forever. This book tells the story of the greatest band in the world from the early days in Liverpool to the Beatles music in the world today.
The books greatest strength is its plot. It’s rich and detailed, providing many layers for the readers to explore. To my mind, it is so intricately constructed that it held my attention right up to the final page. The books weakness is that the book is rather long, but although, it’s truly gripping and amazing. “The Beatles” has a strong moral message: if you have a wish and talent, you may become a great one. As for me, the book is a real masterpiece and now I want to go to places where the Beatles lived and worked.
To sum up, “The Beatles” is certainly still worth reading. The books’ gripping plot and its characterization makes it one of my favourite biographic stories. My only reservation about this book is its length. It’s a little bit too long. In spite of this, I literally could not put it down!
I highly recommend “the Beatles”, which is a truly gripping and magnificent achievement from Paul Shipton.

When Mary comes to England, she does not know how to be polite or kind to people. Because her parents never have time for her, she is lonely and angry. However, she meets the maid Martha, Dickon and Colin, her new friends.

The books greatest strength is characterization: heroes and heroines may seem larger than life, but they are also deeply human. In my opinion, the book is worth reading. The books weakness is its length. In spite of this, I literally could not put it down!
The author tries to convey to us the ideas of good and evil, of greediness and envy, of the crime and the punishment. To my mind, the book is a real masterpiece.

Book review.
Ruth Rendel ‘Shake hands for ever’.
Macmillan readers. Pre- Intermediate.

Within the genre of detective stories the storyline often features some persons, who may lie, betray and, some of them, kill. The best example of this is the novel “Shake hands for ever” by Ruth Rendel. It is a truly gripping detective story.
The murder of Angela Hathall, in her own home, is very well-planned. The house is cleaned from top to the bottom by Angela herself. There are hardly any clues to her murder except for a single fingerprint with an “L” shaped scar.
The detective in charge of the case, Reg Wexford, believes that Angela’s husband Robert Hathall killed his wife. Why isn’t Hathall more upset? And why has he moved to London, to an area where no one knows him? But there is one question which troubles Wexford most of all. Who is the mysterious woman Hathall is seeing? Does she have an L shaped scar on her finger?
This book has a strong moral message: don’t kill, or steal, because it’s the worst things in the world and you’ll be punished.
The books greatest strength is its characterization: heroes and heroines seem larger than life, but they are also deeply human. The books weakness is its length. The author tries to convey to us the ideas of good and evil, of greediness and end envy, of the crime and the punishment. The climax comes when Wexford meets Morag Grey. To my mind, the book is amazing.
All in all, “Shake hands for ever” is certainly still worth reading. The book’s gripping plot and its characterization makes it one of my favourite detective stories.
I can thoroughly recommend this book as it is a classic of its kind that influenced many writers.
